One Saturday a month I will be joining with other local health professionals to introduce you to a variety of healing modalities.

This spring I am honored to be partnering with Aryuvedic practitioner Dr. Joanna Charmichael, founder of The Kalayana Center in Narberth, PA.

We are offering four classes on the basics of Aryuvedic practice and healing. Each class is divided into two parts. Joanna will be teaching the first half of the class. In the second half of the class I will prepare foods specific to the topic of the day.

The April and May Classes are Dedicated to Learning about
The Healthiest Cuisines on the Planet
According to Dr. Weil the healthiest cuisines on the planet are Mediterranean and Asian.

Ayurveda means the wisdom of life. It is an over 5000 year-old healing philosophy from India that views all life as a multi-dimensional expression of consciousness.

Aryuvedic wisdom views food as medicine. Through learning about food and it’s healing power one can discover how to create balance for his or her own constitutional type known as Dosha, and how to make lifestyle choices in harmony with their unique nature.

Saturday, April 11: An Introduction to Ayurveda
In this first class, you will learn about the 5 elements and how they combine to form the 3 doshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha.  Each participant will learn about their unique nature as well as where imbalance exists and how to manage those imbalances with food.

Saturday, May 2: Managing Imbalance and Illness with Ayurveda
Continuing with the idea of food as medicine, this class will go into how Ayurveda views imbalance and disease, and how to manage the doshic imbalances with additional strategies that nurture and nourish body, mind, heart and spirit.

Saturday, June 6: Ayurvedic Detoxification Strategies for Body, Mind and Spirit

Saturday, June 27: Perpetual Renewal with Herbs, Spices, Oils, and Ayurvedic Home Remedies.
